What is Shirodhara Treatment?
It’s this old Ayurvedic thing where they pour warm herbal oil, sometimes buttermilk, in a thin stream right over your forehead. Hits that spot between your brows, the “third eye.” Shiro means head, and dhara means pour. Feels like your brain’s getting a long, slow hug. We do it at Ayushman in Bangalore, and we tweak the oil and pace to fit your body type so you leave feeling brand-new.
Which Oil is Best for Shirodhara?
Best is whatever matches you: Vata (jumpy, dry): Sesame or Ashwagandha. Knocks out the jitters. Pitta (fiery, intense): Coconut or sandalwood. Cools the temper. Kapha (slow, heavy): Brahmi or neem. Gets things moving. Swing by, talk to the doc, and we’ll hook you up with the right one.
How Long is a Shirodhara Treatment?
About 45–60 minutes door-to-door. The pouring itself is 30 – 45 minutes, plus setup and a few minutes to chill after. Bad sleep or headaches? We usually say 7-14 sessions over a week or two, once or twice a week. We’ll tweak it as we go.
What Does Shirodhara Do to Your Body?
Shuts down the noise. Lowers stress hormones, balances your energy types, and nudges the brain glands that handle mood and sleep. Tension in your forehead just melts, scalp gets fed, and blood flows better. Most folks zone out or nap a little. That’s the good stuff. Know your Ayurveda dosha
Is Shirodhara Safe? Any Side Effects?
Totally safe with our crew. You might feel sleepy after or have oily hair for a bit, big whoop, shampoo fixes it. Skip if you’ve got a nasty scalp thing, fever, or are pregnant (unless your OB says go). We check you out first.
Can Shirodhara Help with Insomnia or Anxiety?
Big time. Fixes the restless energy that keeps you up, pumps up natural sleep vibes. Most people crash better by session three. Anxiety? The brain stops spinning. Clients call it their “off switch. Ayurveda & Modern Medicine: A Holistic View on Blood Pressure.
